Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop Set for Feb. 23-24 in Fargo

The 14th annual Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 23-24, at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. The workshop is designed to provide in-depth discussion of selected topics for agricultural professionals who advise farmers on crop production. The event is organized and conducted by the North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Preregistration is requested and the workshop fee is $125 per person if received by Feb. 17. The late registration fee is $150. The Feb. 23 educational sessions are:

  • Weeds lab – An opportunity to fine-tune weed management strategies
  • Wheat production issues - the future of biotech wheat
  • A first look at waste lime in sugar beet production
  • The organic matter factor in making nitrogen recommendations

The Feb. 24 educational sessions are:

  • Grain market insight and outlook for 2006
  • Managing soybeans with herbicide drift injury/generic herbicides for the future
  • Managing production barriers to maximize soybean yield
  • Crop budgeting challenges for 2006

In addition, educational booths will be available for workshop participants to gain updates on agricultural technology.

Certified crop advisers attending the workshop can receive up to 10.5 continuing education units.
