Wheat Meetings Scheduled for Valley City and Dickinson

The North Dakota State University Extension Service, in conjunction with the North Dakota Wheat Commission and North Dakota Grain Growers Association, will hold “Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing” meetings in Valley City and Dickinson on Jan. 30 and 31.
The full-day program will present information on the latest wheat production technologies and marketing strategies.

Speakers include experts from NDSU, the North Dakota Wheat Commission and Minneapolis Grain Exchange. These meetings will build on the successful “Best of the Best” meetings held in Grand Forks, Moorhead, Jamestown and Minot in 2005.

According to Joel Ransom, Extension Service agronomist for cereal crops, who helped organize the program, these meetings will provide valuable information to farmers planning to grow wheat in 2006.

“Given the low price of wheat, the most accurate and complete information will be vital to profitable wheat production this year,” Ransom says. “The Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing is an excellent venue to obtain this vital information.”

The workshops will be held Jan. 30 in Valley City at the Eagles Club and Jan. 31 in Dickinson at the Days Inn Lodge. The workshops begin at 8 a.m. both days.

There is no participation fee, but preregistration is required. Call the North Dakota Grain Growers Association at (866) 871-3442 or send an e-mail with the names, addresses and phone numbers of those attending to sheena@ndgga.com. Additional information about the program can be obtained from Ransom by e-mail at joel.ransom@ndsu.edu.
