January 26, 2006 NDSU Weed Control Guide Available The 2006 version of the North Dakota Weed Control Guide is available. “The guide is based on federal and state herbicide labels, research at North Dakota Research Extension Centers and other information from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture,” according to Richard Zollinger, North Dakota State University Extension Service weed specialist. The guide is available from NDSU Extension Service county offices, NDSU Agriculture Communication at (701) 231-7882 and on the Web at www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/weeds/. The first copy is free. Additional copies are 75 cents each. The guide has several sections:
“The guide has an easy-to-follow format that should help producers with sometimes difficult herbicide application decisions,” Zollinger says. “The guide also lists other publications that are available to provide even more specific information.” The information in the guide applies only to North Dakota, according to Zollinger. “That’s because many herbicide uses are allowed only by supplemental or specific labeling for North Dakota,” he says. “Those using supplemental or specific labeling are required to have the labeling in their possession at the time of application.” The guide provides an update on new or discontinued herbicides, possible Section 18 registrations and IR-4 projects for the year. Other NDSU research or Extension contributors to the weed guide are Duane Berglund, Michael Christoffers, Alan Dexter, Greg Endres, Terry Gregoire, Kirk Howatt, Brian Jenks, George Kegode, Rod Lym, Calvin Messersmith, Andrew Thostenson and Harlene Hatterman-Valenti. ### Source:
