Eastern Crop Scout School to be Held March 1-2

The Eastern Crop Scout School will be held at the Fargo Holiday Inn on March 1-2. The North Dakota State University Extension Service sponsors the school.

It is designed for individuals who will be scouting crops for pest and production problems this year. The program has an introductory component to teach the basics in weed, disease and insect identification, and scouting procedures. The school also provides sessions devoted to important pest and production issues for major crops in the region.

The school begins at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, and concludes at 4 p.m. on March 2. Registration fees are $140 for both days, $60 for one day, and $170 for NDSU students who wish to take the school for 1 undergraduate credit. Continuing education unit credits also are available for those with Certified Crop Adviser certification. The registration fee is $165 for registrations after Feb. 13.

For more information and a registration brochure, contact Marcia McMullen, Department of Plant Pathology, NDSU, Fargo, ND 58105, or phone Darla Verbitsky at (701) 231-8866. Information on the agenda can be accessed on the Web at
