February 16, 2006 NDSU Extension Service Schedules Wheat Meetings in Grand Forks and Mohall The North Dakota State University Extension Service, in conjunction with the North Dakota Wheat Commission (NDWC) and North Dakota Grain Growers Association (NDGGA), will hold Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing meetings in Grand Forks and Mohall Feb. 27 and 28. The full-day program will present information on the latest wheat production technologies and marketing strategies. Speakers include experts from NDSU, the NDWC and Minneapolis Grain Exchange. “These meetings will provide valuable information to farmers planning to grow wheat in 2006,” says Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension agronomist for cereal crops. “Given the low price of wheat, the most accurate and complete information will be vital to profitable wheat production this year. The Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing is an excellent venue to obtain this vital information.” These meetings follow those held in Valley City and Dickinson in late January. Dan Wogsland, NDGGA executive director, describes these earlier meetings as an overwhelming success based on the numbers attending and the feedback from participants. “The fact that 100 percent of the farmers attending these meetings indicated that they would recommend these meetings to other farmers gives us a good sense that farmers really valued these meetings,” Ransom says. The meeting in Grand Forks will be held at the Alerus Center on Feb. 27. The meeting in Mohall will be held at the American Legion on Feb. 28. Both meetings will begin at 8 a.m. There is no participation fee, but advance registration is requested to help in planning for the noon meal. Call the North Dakota Grain Growers Association at (866) 871-3442 with the names, addresses and phone numbers of those attending or e-mail the information to priscilla@ndgga.org.
