February 22, 2006 Pork Quality Assurance Training Set The North Dakota State University Extension Service will conduct pork quality assurance meetings for pork producers at several locations across the state in March. The sessions will provide producers with the opportunity to be certified or recertified in the pork quality assurance program. The National Pork Board-administered program requires producers to attend certification meetings and register every three years to maintain certification. Participants will receive updates on 10 key practices in animal care, medication use and recordkeeping. The program is voluntary and educational, emphasizing good management practices to ensure that consumers receive high-quality pork. It also reminds producers of their responsibility to the industry. Training meetings will be at the following locations: * March 1, Morton County Fair building, New Salem (south of Interstate 94) * March 3, Walsh County Extension office, 101 County Road 12B, Park River * March 15, North Central Research Extension Center, 5400 U.S. Highway 83 S., Minot * March 16, Eagles Club, North Dakota Highway 32 North, Lisbon All sessions will begin at 1 p.m. Central time and last up to two hours.
