NDSU Agricultural Honor Society Sponsors Statewide Tour

Gamma Sigma Delta, North Dakota State University’s agricultural honor society, is sponsoring a statewide tour to promote agriculture in North Dakota.

The tour, set for Aug. 8-9, is open to anyone with an interest in North Dakota agriculture. However, the tour is limited to the first 45 people who register, and NDSU faculty, staff and students will receive preference.

Scheduled stops include:

  • North Dakota Mill and Elevator, Grand Forks
  • Nelson County Extension office, Lakota
  • Lake Region Livestock, Devils Lake
  • Geographical center of North America, Rugby
  • Effertz Black Butte Acres, Velva
  • ProSeed, Harvey
  • North American Bison Cooperative, New Rockford
  • NDSU’s North Central Research Extension Center, Minot
  • NDSU’s Carrington Research Extension Center

Tour organizers say getting out into the state and interacting with people involved in agriculture is a great way to learn about North Dakota and its residents.

The tour is $45 per person, which covers the cost of a charter bus and meals, including some uniquely North Dakota cuisine. The registration deadline is July 21. Send registrations to Jerie Little, 150 Van Es Hall, NDSU, Fargo, ND 58105.

The bus will leave from the NDSU campus Aug. 8 at 7 a.m.

Tour participants must make their own motel reservations in Minot for the night of Aug. 8. A block of rooms is being held at the Holiday Inn until July 24 at the state rate of $50 plus tax. Call the Holiday Inn toll-free at (800) 468-9968 and ask for a room in the North Central Research Extension Center block.

For more information about the tour, contact Charlene Wolf-Hall, Gamma Sigma Delta president, at (701) 231-6387 or charlene.hall@ndsu.edu.
