NDSU Oakes Irrigation Research Site Field Day Set for Aug. 2

North Dakota State University’s Oakes irrigation research site will conduct its annual field day Aug. 2. Refreshments and rolls will be served starting at 9 a.m., with a tour beginning at 9:30.

Topics and presenters are:

Corn hybrids in 30-inch rows, 30-inch paired rows and 15-inch rows by Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension Service agronomist
Soybeans planted in 30-inch, 30-inch paired, and 20- and 10-inch rows will be compared by Duane Berglund, NDSU Extension Service agronomist
Onion variety and onion weed control experiments presented by Paul Hendrickson, Carrington Research Extension Center irrigation research specialist, and Jim Loken, NDSU graduate student
A strip-till corn study by Walt Albus, Oakes irrigation research site supervisor

Visitors also will have an opportunity to view an inoculation study on edible dry beans and soybeans and a sclerotinia study in sunflowers.

The Oakes irrigation research site is 4.5 miles south of Oakes on North Dakota Highway 1.
