November 2, 2006 Athletes to be Awarded Scholarships During Harvest Bowl Six scholarships will be awarded to outstanding North Dakota State University female and male athletes during this year’s Harvest Bowl festivities Nov. 10-11. The NDSU Harvest Bowl program also recognizes the outstanding work of agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and five counties in Minnesota. A special agri-business award goes to an individual who has a distinguished record in agriculture and business. “We are very grateful to all of the wonderful people that are so generous in supporting the Harvest Bowl scholarships,” says Gene Taylor, NDSU athletic director. “Their generosity assists our student athletes pursue their academic and athletic dreams.” The 2006 Harvest Bowl Scholarship recipient is Inger Hodgson, 5-foot-9-inch freshman guard for the women’s basketball team. Hodgson is from Barneveld, Wis. Katie Dahlen, 5-foot-10-inch senior guard on the women’s basketball team, will receive the Bob Lauf Memorial Scholarship. Dahlen is from Fargo. The recipient of a Harvest Bowl scholarship in memory of Robert Johansen is Justin Frick. He is a 6-foot-3-inch senior defensive tackle from Yankton, S.D. The Ron Offutt Scholarship goes to Gerald Ebel, who also is from Yankton. Ebel is a 6-foot-6-inch sophomore offensive lineman on the football team. The Bob and Darlene Yaggie Football Scholarship is awarded to Ryan Foster. He is a 6-foot-2-inch sophomore offensive lineman from Eleva, Wis. Jacob Bryce, sophomore wrestler from Glennwood, Minn., is the recipient of the Titan Machinery scholarship. “The Harvest Bowl Committee continues to make this a very special event, not only for all of the honorees, but also each of the student athletes that receive a scholarship,” says Lynn Dorn, NDSU women’s athletic director. “The student athletes are very proud to be named as a recipient, as well as their families.
