Submitted by: agcomm, Wed Nov 26 10:13:38 1997 November 26, 1997 Irrigation Workshops Offered in Carrington, Mandan and Grand Forks December workshops sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service will be offered in Carrington, N.D., for people interested in starting an irrigated farm operation, and in Grand Forks and Mandan for practicing irrigators. The Dec. 16 workshop at the Carrington Research and Extension Center just north of Carrington will begin with registration from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and will focus on the fundamentals necessary to begin irrigating, including identifying irrigable soils, locating a water supply, obtaining a water permit, selecting irrigating equipment, irrigation scheduling, the economics of irrigating and high value crop opportunities. The workshop Dec. 11 at the Seven Seas Motel in Mandan will begin with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. and will include a commercial irrigation exposition as well as presentations and discussions for practicing irrigators. The Dec. 17 workshop at the Westward Ho Motel in Grand Forks will begin with registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and will offer practicing irrigators information on irrigation concerns specific to that area. At each location participants may register at the door, and the number of Certified Crop Advisor Continuing Education Units available to participants will be announced on the day of the workshop. Registration fee is $25 at Mandan, $15 at Carrington and Grand Forks. A 1998 NDSU Crop Production Guide is included in the fee at the workshops in Grand Forks and Carrington.
