Authors are Kevin Sedivec, extension rangeland specialist, and William Barker, range researcher, both in the NDSU Department of Animal and Range Sciences. The 270-page book contains information on 123 plants common to the grasslands of North Dakota and Minnesota. Each plant species is listed by both common and scientific name. There is a color photo of each species, along with line drawings of distinguishing characteristics, a detailed description of the plant, and information about the plant's origin, growing season, habitat, distribution, forage value and wildlife value.
