Submitted by: agcomm, Thu Dec 18 12:35:24 1997 December 18, 1997 Corn Symposium Set For Jan. 8 and 9 in Fargo The third annual Tri-State Corn Symposium will be Thursday and Friday, Jan. 8 and 9, at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, N.D. On Thursday, symposium exhibits will be open from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four corn production sessions will be offered on Friday. Richard Zollinger, weed specialist for the NDSU Extension Service, will present "Corn Herbicides/Weed Management"; Paul Gaspar, agronomy research coordinator for Pioneer Hi-bred International, will talk about "Row Spacing and Plant Populations--Strategies for Corn"; Dave Dornback of Novartis Seed will speak on the "Future of Genetic Engineering"; and Ken Hellevang, ag engineer with the NDSU Extension Service, will team up with Bill Wilke, extension engineer with the University of Minnesota, to present information on "Corn Drying and Handling/Maintaining Quality." These sessions will be presented from 9:30 until 3:00. Keynote speaker at lunch on Friday will be John Green, director of production and education for the National Corn Growers Association.
