Submitted by: agcomm, Thu Dec 18 12:35:24 1997 December 18, 1997 Dry Bean, Field Pea and Soybean Meeting Set Jan. 16 at Carrington North Dakota State University's Carrington Research Extension Center will host it's annual grain legume production meeting on Friday, Jan. 16, to assist growers in deciding what to grow in 1998 by providing them with details about the production and economics of raising dry edible beans, field peas and soybeans. Registration and refreshments begin at 8:30 a.m. Concurrent sessions on field peas and soybeans begin at 9, and concurrent sessions on dry beans and soybeans will be offered at 1:30. All sessions will include discussions of cultivar selection, stand establishment, pest management and harvest techniques. Growers will talk about production techniques and expriences. From 11:45 to 1:30, general sessions on the benefits, risks and economics of putting legumes in a rotation will be presented. Speakers at the meeting include NDSU extension agents and agronomists, industry representatives and south-central North Dakota farmers. The event is free and open to the public.
