Gradual Phase-Out of Bladex Herbicide DuPont has announced the phase-out of Bladex herbicide by the year 2002. This decision was negotiated with the EPA in an effort to meet the long term needs of DuPont products and introduction of new products into the market. There will no changes in 1996 and many of the current uses of Bladex will not be affected until 1999. Below is a table showing the maximum formulated product use rates per acre per season. Maximum Product Use Rates per Acre per Season 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000-2002 2002+ Bladex 4L (qt.) 6.5 6.5 5 3 1 1 0 Bladex 90DF(lb.) 7.2 7.2 5.5 3.3 1.1 1.1 0 This action demonstrates what can happen to many of our crop protection products because of heavy expense and constant negotiation that goes with the severe requirements chemical companies must meet to reregister existing products. Perhaps others companies may decide to go through this route rather than pay for the costs of herbicide reregistration.
