Our programs offer students opportunity to emphasize their areas of interest, especially interests in agriculture, food, natural resources, and rural development.
Economic principles, math, computer techniques, and written and oral communication skills combine to form a foundation on which students can build the capacity to achieve their career goals. High school students interested in pursuing degrees in economics, agricultural economics or agribusiness are encouraged to take classes that emphasize written and oral communication skills, math and computer skills. Courses in history, government, foreign language and accounting also provide a strong foundation. Economics instills decision-making and analytical skills that can be applied in a broad range of careers, industries, and other professional settings. It is a flexible degree allowing students to pursue complementary emphases in a variety of areas, such as political science, business, history, accounting, foreign language, communication, and education.
Agribusiness instills decision making and analytical skills and offers students interested in food and agriculture the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of business – management, marketing or finance – by completing a business or accounting minor.
