Kathleen M. Tweeten

About Ms. Tweeten:
Kathleen is the Director of the NDSU Extension Center for Community Vitality and an Extension Specialist in Community Economic Development in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics. She is past president of the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals and Business Retention and Expansion International (BREI). Kathleen serves on the NDSU Extension Administrative Leadership team and program council. She currently serves on the National Epsilon Sigma Phi Professional Development committee and is liaison to the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development.

Tweeten has also served on the national Extension Disaster Education Network Business Ready committee and the national eXtension Internal Partners Advisory Committee, a committee of the National Association of State Universites and Land-Grant Colleges.

Her special areas of interest include disaster planning for small and medium-sized businesses, business retention and expansion; community asset based planning, the creation of rural business opportunities; youth and adult entrepreneurship and leadership development.

Kathy works with NDSU faculty and others to coordinate research, teaching and educational outreach, thereby connecting the campus resources in community, economic development and leadership to communities.
