How Do I Find Addresses?

Rolodex ImageBecause there is no central directory of email addresses, finding an address isn't as easy as calling information for a phone number. Here are a few strategies for getting started.

  • If possible contact the person by phone or postal mail to get their email address.

  • If you know where someone works or goes to school, do a web search to see if the organization has a web site. Such web sites often maintain online directories.

  • Search Internet directory services. Two services are:

    • WhoWhere? http://www.whowhere.lycos.com
A collection of look-up services for email addresses, residential listings, government contact information, and business/company directories. Part of the Lycos network.

    • US West Dex -Yellow Pages. http://www.questdex.com
Online versions of phone directories. In addition to an email address search, you can search for addresses and phone numbers for residential, business, and government listings.
