Receiving Email Messages

Most email programs display incoming messages automatically when you open the program. In Netscape, incoming messages are stored in your Inbox. Once you read your message, you can store it in a different folder. In the example below, Netscape lists the messages in your inbox by sender, subject line, and the date/time they were sent. To read a message, double-click on it. The full message will then be displayed.

You can also change the order that messages are sorted by clicking on the appropriate list heading (Sender, Subject or Date).

Message Headers

When a message is sent, the email software inserts additional information such as when the message was sent, who sent it, and where replies should be directed. This information is called a message header.
