Responsibilities of North Dakota Master Internet
Volunteers
As a Master Internet VolunteerSM, the following are
your responsibilities.
- Participate in 30 hours of classroom instruction.
- Volunteer 30 hours
There are many, many ways you can volunteer. Some ideas include helping teach the next
MIV class; teach an internet class, help people one on one with computer questions, create
community or organizational web sites, set up and host a booth at a trade show, volunteer at a
community computer site.
- Sign the Policy Statement
You have previously signed a policy statement which states the title Master Internet
Volunteer is to be used exclusively in the NDSU Master Internet VolunteerSM program. Volunteers must not advertise
in their place of business that they are a Master Internet VolunteerSM. Gratuitous payments for speaking as a Master Internet
VolunteerSM must
be given in the name of and for the NDSU Extension Service. In working with people use tact
and give constructive advice.
- Sign the Child Protection Statement
The NDSU Extension Service requires volunteers to comply with the NDSU Extension
Child Protection Policy. This policy requires volunteer to acknowledge reading, understanding
and agreeing to the behavioral Expectation and related materials by signing the Adult Behavioral
Expectations form. Volunteers will also have their names cleared through the North Dakota
Child Abuse Information Index.
- Stay in contact with instructor and class participants via email
- Complete the MIV Reporting
Form regularly to report volunteer activities.
To be a Successful Master Internet
VolunteerSM
So, how can you successfully fulfill your responsibilities as a Master Internet VolunteerSM? It's
as easy as 1-2-3.
- Have a love for your subject. In this program that means an interest in computers and the
Internet.
- As a volunteer you should have a desire to share your knowledge of the Internet. Do so in a
way in which you are comfortable.
- You should have a basic competence in the subject. After completing the 30 classroom
hours, you will.
