Customizing Your Browser

  • If the text on your screen is too small to read, you can change the font size. Font changes will remain until you set them back.

In Netscape 4.7, select Edit...Preferences...Appearance...Fonts (or in older versions, Options…General Preferences…Fonts). Then, click the drop down arrow to select a different font or font size.

In Internet Explorer, click on the "View" button on your toolbar and go to Text Size.

  • You can specify a different home page at anytime.

In Netscape 4.7, select Edit...Preferences...Navigator (or in older versions, Options…General Preferences…Appearance). Under the "Navigator starts with" category, select the "home page" option and type the URL in the Location field.

In Internet Explorer, select Tools…Internet Options… General. Select "Home  Page" and then type the URL in the "Address" text entry field.

  • To make more room in your browser window for displaying Web pages, you can change what features appear on your toolbar. For example, you can remove the text labels for buttons, hide the location bar, and show buttons that link to special features.

To change how your Toolbar is displayed in Netscape 4.7, select Edit…Preferences…Appearance. In the "Toolbar" category, select the option you want for displaying your toolbar buttons. To hide or show other toolbar features (e.g. location bar and directory buttons), from the View menu, select the features you want hide or show.

In Internet Explorer, select View and check any toolbars or features you want to show or hide.
