Robert S.(Stan) Herren
About Dr. Herren
Dr. Herren's
main responsibility and passion is teaching economics. He currently
teaches Money & Banking (Economics 324),
History of Economic Thought (Economics 456), Labor Economics
(Economics 465), and Monetary Theory & Policy (Economics
476). Dr. Herren also has experience and interest in teaching
U.S. Economic History, Intermediate Macroeconomics,
and Industrial Organization. Dr. Herren also believes that advising
is an important part of the instructional role. He regularly
advises economic majors and minors.
Dr. Herren's research is in the history of economic thought
field. One theme of his current research is to provide students
and colleagues with a better understanding of how economic ideas
have been used in the formation of monetary and fiscal policies.
Through examining specific episodes of economic policymaking,
he hopes to provide students and colleagues with insights concerning
the interactions among economic theories, economic events, and
economic policies. A second theme of his research involves the
evolution of the economics profession. He is attempting to look
at a changing and evolving profession positioned within a changing
and evolving society.
