4-H Horse Judges Certification

WHAT IS IT?
A morning seminar covering the ND 4-H Horse Show Rules and Judging Guide and afternoon certification testing.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone interested in judging 4-H shows in the state of North Dakota. The morning seminar is open to anyone, and would be beneficial for those working with the 4-H Horsemanship Project as well as judges and youth showmen.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
To be eligible for certification, applicants must pay a $20 certification fee and pass a written exam over the ND 4-H Horse Show Rules and Judging Guide with a score of 80% or higher and judge 4-8 performance classes with a score of 75% or higher. Certification is good for three years.

Completing the Pattern: Horse Camp

Learn how to improve your riding skill and practice common 4-H horse show classes such as showmanship, equitation, horsemanship, trail and games. Youth will learn about horse nutrition, training, selection and general care. Riding instruction will focus on improving the riders overall balance and control. Campers must provide their own horse. Horses must be well-trained and well mannered in a group setting away from home. The camper must be able to saddle, bridle, and ride their hose at a lope.

Learn how real-life investigators solve forensic cases. Youth will be part of a mystery that they must solve before camp ends. Campers will be part of collecting evidence, the basics of fingerprinting, DNA analysis, police investigative techniques and more. The camp will end with a dress-up mystery dinner, in which campers will try to solve the camp mystery using evidence they collected throughout the week.
