Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) Training and Quiz ~ Minot

The Annual Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is now active. All youth showing RABBITS, POULTRY, BEEF, DAIRY CATTLE, GOATS, SHEEP, and SWINE are required to be certified by JULY 15, 2021 for the 2021 North Dakota State Fair or they will NOT be allowed to exhibit their livestock at the show.

What is YQCA? Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZmt_XYH170

Ward County 4-H is offering 2-hour YQCA Training and Quiz on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ward County Administration Building for $3.00 per youth.

Registration is required at: yqca.org – directions located in attached brochure.

~ OR ~

  • Youth may complete online $12.00; register at: https://yqca.learngrow.io/Account/Login

~ OR ~

Youth may Test Out of Certification (by age division) $36.00; register at: yqca.org – directions located in attached brochure.

Please note, with the Instructor Led Training (ILT), you will NOT have access to YQCA educational material after completion of the ILT program. The online module option will give you continued access to the YQCA educational material at all times, which is a great tool to reference and studying for livestock quiz bowl.

Certification requires passing a short quiz with 70% or better with ILT and online. Test out requires passing with 80% or better. ONLY YQCA certifications will be accepted for 2021.

The YQCA site is user-friendly and should make it easy for 4-H families to complete their training. The program is a fun 60 minute interactive program. The website for YQCA (yqca.org) provides additional information.

This is an exciting opportunity to educate our young people in North Dakota on the importance of animal care, food safety, and to better prepare them for future roles in agriculture. It is essential for our youth to know their role in providing safe products to consumers. We are excited to utilize YQCA to “make the best better.”
